ECM is a legendary German jazz record label best known for putting out important records by more fringe jazz artists such as Keith Jarrett, John Abercrombie, Jan Garbarek, Paul Motion, Pat Metheny, Ralph Towner, Dave Holland, Gary Burton, Bill Frisell etc. ECM's artists often refused to acknowledge boundaries between genres. ECM's motto is "the most beautiful sound next to silence…” ECM is also known for their often minimalistic sometimes stark yet beautiful album covers.
